Flame's "Rewind"

Cross Movement Records artist FLAME returns to the Christian Hip Hop scene with his sophomore release REWIND. The album is uniquely presented as a radio show where FLAME serves as the host of the program. Reminiscent of his mentors, The Cross Movement, FLAME takes the listener on a Biblically-based, musical journey to contemplate man’s sinful nature, the importance of studying scripture and the need for salvation.
The opening track is the radio show’s theme song where FLAME presents humorous metaphors to explain why he named the album REWIND (“Man, I’m back like when dudes used to rock biker shorts.”). The St. Louis native explains that his album/radio show serves two purposes: to answer some questions posed regarding his debut album, and to point people back to the holy scriptures of God that instruct man how to live on Earth.

FLAME displays his talent for doing what many Christian Hip Hop artists cannot seem to pull off: rapping to tracks outside of his signature style without becoming the trendy, flavor-of-the-week lyricist. Evidence of this is clearly shown in “No Silence” featuring Lecrae. The song is a heavy, Dirty South dance floor hit laced with 100% of Lecrae’s flavor, yet FLAME holds his own while maintaining his Midwest style of rhyming.

The album’s title track features FLAME spitting lyrics to an East Coast-flavored, old school track. In “Rewind,” FLAME is watching a preacher on television win the affection of 20,000 people while using scriptures out of context. FLAME refers his fans to the Bible’s complete scriptural texts to explain what God really meant and does this to warn the listener about taking scriptures out of context to support their arguments.

Other elements in REWIND depict FLAME’s struggles with sin such as “Give Us the Truth, Pt. 2,” the powerful, extremely transparent testimony of FLAME’s backsliding state during the time he entered college. There’s also the radio friendly, “To My Heart” where FLAME holds a conversation with what the Bible deems as deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. The track features East Coast rapper shai linne as the voice of FLAME’s heart. In the song, FLAME blames his heart for getting him into so much trouble, but his heart reminds him that he was supposed to guard his heart from the temptations of sin.

As FLAME’s radio show closes, he leaves the listener with the thought-provoking “We Preach Christ.” The song is a powerful Q&A on the need for salvation. FLAME uses everyday situations to get the listener to ponder whether or not they would seek life-preserving necessities such as food, water and God’s love. He questions whether or not we really understand the meaning of the love of Jesus Christ.

Cutting edge sound, superior artistry, authentic Hip Hop beats, mesmerizing hooks and uncompromising lyrics are still the standard as FLAME continues to burn brightly.

Subject:a quick note about Da T.R.U.T.H.'s The Faith album
Security:Public

This album has gotten a lot of Christian publicity and reviews. I've read and heard a lot about it before I bought. Actually I think it was out for two weeks before I bought it. Now I wish I hadn't waited!! This album sincerely lives up to all its good reviews. It has a high rating in the Christian billboards and for good reason!!!

Of it, Kirk Franklin said "A perfect marriage between the streets and the soul. The Faith is Hip Hop at its finest representing the Lord Jesus Christ!"

I just wanna say that any serious Christian hip-hop/Cross Movement fans need to add this to your collection. It is an ESSENTIAL.

I would put it with my "Cross Movement Starter Kit" for all those who are new Cross Movement fans or new Christians who are fans of Hip-Hop and are looking for good gospel hip-hop.

The Starter Kit:

Cross Movement - Holy Culture
Ambassador - The Thesis
Flame - Flame
Da T.R.U.T.H. - The Faith

Nuff said!!

with Gospel Goliaths
Da’ T.R.U.T.H.’s Sophomore Project, The Faith
Debuts #7 on Billboard Gospel Chart In the
Footsteps of Gospel Greats: Cece Winans,
Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary and Others

Los Angeles (September 23, 2005)— Cross Movement Records artist, Da’ T.R.U.T.H.—the fastest-selling solo artist in Christian Hip Hop—makes noteworthy sales history with the first week charting success of his sophomore release, The Faith. The Faith debuted at #7 on the Billboard Gospel Chart, sharing top-10 ranking with first week release of Cece Winans’ Purified (#1). Sharing the spotlight on top-10 bestselling Gospel artists for the week is a “who’s who” of Gospel heavy-hitters: Yolanda Adams (#2), Mary Mary (#3), Shirley Caesar (#4), Donnie McClurkin (#5) and WOW Gospel 2005 (#6). The Faith also entered the Heat Seekers Chart at the #34 position, #10 on the SoundScan Top Overall Rock/Alternative/Rap Chart, #24 on the SoundScan Top Current Contemporary Christian Chart and #27 on the SoundScan Top Christian Album Chart.

When asked about the charting success of The Faith, Percy Williams of Sirius Satellite Radio said, “I am not at all surprised by Da' T.R.U.T.H. charting at #7 on Billboard's Gospel chart; his CD The Faith is a wake up call to the music industry at large! Christian rap is here to stay. Thanks CMR for leading the charge!”

This release raises the total of Cross Movement Records (CMR) concurrent releases on the Billboard Gospel Chart over the past two weeks to three, including The Ambassador’s “The Thesis” and Lecrae’s “Real Talk”. CMR is the only Christian Hip Hop label to ever achieve such acclaim. Additionally, with three singles in the top-10 of the Radio and Records (R&R) Christian Rhythmic Chart (two featuring artist Da’ T.R.U.T.H.—“Feels Good” [#2] and “LADIES” [#4]), Christian Hip-Hop label Cross Movement Records dominates the genre at both radio and retail.

The average Christian Rap artist sells 5,000-7,000 units during the lifespan of a CD release. Since its 2004 release, Da’ T.R.U.T.H.’s debut solo album Moment of Truth has sold more than 40,000 units (nearly 10,000 in the first month). Under CMR’s Provident-Integrity Music Distribution partnership, The Faith, (released on September 13th) is expected to surpass Moment of Truth sales figures by the end of 2005.

A graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University and The Institute of Jewish Studies, Da' T.R.U.T.H.—born Emanuel Lee Lambert, Jr.—has been devoted to urban missions since the age of 16. A leader of the non-profit organization Cross Movement Ministries, he speaks nationally at churches and events across the country and has also performed before audiences of 100,000+ at Creation Fest and other major rallies. Mentioned in both Vibe Magazine and The Source, Da T.R.U.T.H. has been featured in New Man Magazine and a myriad of Christian and Gospel media outlets. His television appearances include BET’s “Lift Every Voice” and The Word Network’s “Bobby Jones Gospel.” For more on Da’ T.R.U.T.H, visit www.datruth.net or www.crossmovementrecords.com.

CROSS MOVEMENT RECORDS DROPS
TRIPLE HEAT COAST TO COAST

CMR Triples the heat coast-to-coast this Summer & Fall

One of the most trusted names in Christian Hip Hop, Cross Movement Records triples the heat coast-to-coast this Summer and Fall with three of the most anticipated releases of the year. All three releases represent Christian Hip Hop’s growing diversity of sound—Da' T.R.U.T.H. brings it East Coast style, FLAME turns up the heat from the Midwest and Lecrae gets it in with that “Dirty South” sound.

While laying solid groundwork for expanding the Christian Hip Hop market, all three projects continue to establish Christian Hip Hop as a music genre and—most importantly—as a viable means of evangelism.

Get the triple heat – Da' T.R.U.T.H. , FLAME and Lecrae are on the cutting edge of Christian Hip Hop with flows worthy of secular acclaim. Their soon to be released albums are must haves for Hip Hop heads and neophytes alike.

Subject:a quick note about how i review albums
Security:Public

when i review albums i do it differently... i hate reviews where people talk about the album and then just make up a number for their review without telling us how they reached that number... so i review EACH TRACK individually... i rate it on a scale from 0 to 5... and then i add them all up and divide that number by the number of tracks on the album to come up with the average which is the albums rating (rounded to the nearest quarter)...

so i review everything... even the skits... because i feel if you put them on an album they should be reviewed and there should be a reason FOR the skits etc to be on the album....

just a lil' note.... so yall know where i'm comin' from...

Peace and God bless!!!
